DEADLINE: 31st May, 2014

Participants who are interested to present free papers or posters are invited to submit an abstract of their paper. It could be in areas of nutrition science, food service, community nutrition, clinical, quality improvement, education and other nutrition and dietetic-related areas.

Participants are also invited to submit abstracts for short communication sessions that focuses on any experience in topics such as working abroad - what it takes, challenges in implementing IDNT, working with the media, non-dietetic approaches to health promotion, entrepreneurship in dietetics or any other interesting topics which may enhance dietetics and professional practice.

ABSTRACTS FOR RESEARCH FINDINGS/PROJECTS

(FREE PAPER SYMPOSIA/ SHORT COMMUNICATION OR POSTER)

Authors submitting abstracts for presentation at this MDA conference should consider the following:

The abstract should list the title of the paper, the author(s), affiliation(s), and email address of the corresponding author. The name of the presenting author should be underlined.

Abstracts should not exceed 250 words in Times New Roman 12 font. UK spelling should be used throughout.

Abstracts must describe in a succinct manner the purposes and results of the research/projects/experience so that the quality, originality and comprehensiveness of the work can be evaluated by the conference chairpersons. Each abstract should contain:

  1. an introductory sentence indicating the purpose
  2. a brief description of pertinent methodology
  3. a summary of the findings/outcome and;
  4. conclusions

Authors must accept sole responsibility for the statements in their abstracts.

Titles should be indicative of the content of the abstract. All words necessary to identify the subject matter should be included in the title to facilitate electronic retrieval.  

Abbreviations may be used in the body of an abstract if they are defined at their first mention in the text.

The combined length of the abstract title, list of authors and body should not exceed 250 words (including spaces).

One keyword selection is required, but users may enter up to three. Keywords will be used in indexing and are encouraged.

ABSTRACT FOR CASE STUDIES

We welcome the submission of insightful case studies.  Case studies must illustrate the value of diet and lifestyle intervention in the understanding, prevention and/or management of diseases. It will be good to include pre- and post-intervention data. Best presentation prizes will be given for selected case studies.

Abstracts describing case studies should be comprised of the following sections:  Client History, Assessment including food nutrition history, Nutrition Diagnosis, Dietary Prescription and Intervention, Monitoring and Evaluation, Summary, and Disclosure Statement (sponsors, conflict of interest, if any). One or two figures may be used, but the author(s) must ensure that the figures are legible when they are reduced to half size.

Case studies abstracts should not exceed 350 words in Times New Roman 12 font.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The accuracy of the submitted abstract is the responsibility of the authors. Every effort will be made to publish the abstract exactly as submitted. Authors should prepare and proofread their abstracts carefully prior to submission. Errors made on your submitted abstract are likely to appear in print.

Authors are strongly encouraged to print a hard copy of their abstract for their records before submitting.

All PRESENTERS must register to attend this MDA conference. If an abstract is accepted and the PRESENTER does not register, the abstract may be withdrawn.
